MWF Spring Conference 2019:
Celebrating Success and Preparing for the Future

We are delighted to announce that the 2019 MWF Spring Conference ‘Celebrating Success and Preparing for the Future: Finding solutions to challenges faced by women doctors and their patients’ will be held in the City of Bristol, on Friday 17th May 2019 at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel.

This year more than ever, the MWF Spring Conference 2019  will celebrate how far we have come and look at the big challenges that still lie ahead within the medical profession and beyond. This national conference is a platform for inspiring medical minds to meet, stimulate new thinking and extend professional relationships. We are bringing together the leading voices of those who are working to transform the future for those in the medical profession and highlight solutions to their modern day challenges.

In our Spring Conference we will explore a wide range of topics including:

  • Celebrating the achievements of medical women and inspiring the next generation

  • Improving the training and working lives of junior doctors

  • Supporting the health and wellbeing of doctors and students

You will also have the chance to make connections with plenty of opportunities for networking. MWF conferences present an opportunity to engage with a wide range of consultants, GPs, junior doctors, medical students and hospital doctors from a variety of specialties.

Call for Abstracts

We are now accepting abstract submissions for the upcoming Spring Conference. Abstracts are requested based on the conference title ‘Celebrating Success and Preparing for the Future: finding solutions to challenges faced by women doctors and their patients’ or on one of the following categories:

1. A subject of interest to women doctors or on women's health issues

2. Education and training

3. Innovation, Audit and research or quality improvement project.

4. Management and Leadership

Full submission details can be located on our website here. The deadline for all submissions is strictly Sunday 31st March 2019 at midnight.


Formal Dinner

We welcome you to join us for the unmissable after Conference drinks and dinner.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Liz O’Riordan as the Conference After-Dinner Speaker.

The Formal Conference Dinner will take place on the evening of Friday 17th May 2019 at the Bristol Marriott Royal, with a drinks reception from 6:45pm and the formal dinner to commence at 7:30pm. The fee to attend is £62.50 for MWF members and £65 for non-members.

AGM and Presidential Address

This will take place directly after the conference on Friday 17th May, 5:30-6:00pm at the Palm Court, Bristol Marriot Royal, College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TA.

MWF Council Meeting

The MWF Council meeting will take place on Saturday 18th May 2019, 9:00-11:00am in the Lancaster Room, Bristol Marriot Royal, College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TA. This meeting is open to all MWF members who are welcome to sit in on discussions as observers.

GWR – Conference Fare Ticket

For conference delegates, Great Western Railway (GWR) can provide a conference return fare to Bristol (based on Paddington Station as an origin point) of £44 in standard class and £89 in first class. The fare is only applicable on GWR routes.

Car: Take the A38 towards Bristol City Centre then exit onto the A3029 signposted Bristol City Centre. Travel through three roundabouts. Stay in the left lane and exit onto the A4. Take the third exit from the roundabout onto Anchor Road. Turn left and the hotel will be on the left.
