anthea mowatBorn in Newcastle and attended Aberdeen University. Career as an anaesthetist following training in Aberdeen and Inverness, then moved to Lincolnshire with GP husband. At the time of that move, took career break for 4 years to nurse my late disabled mother, and had 2 daughters. Returned as an associate specialist in anaesthesia, and later in chronic pain management, in United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, for over 28 years.

Interested in Education, and undertook Masters in Medical Education from Dundee University. Passionate about supporting and respecting colleagues. First SAS grade to chair a Local Negotiating Committee, and one of first cohort SAS Tutors. Latterly Lead Appraiser for ULHT.

Involved in British Medical Association locally, regionally and nationally for over 23 years. Chair BMA Representative Body 2016-2019, first SAS grade and only second women to be a Chief Officer. Responsible for organising and chairing the 4 day policy setting meeting with approx. 600 representatives. Lead for equality/inclusion, and for education/training/workforce. Lead for a project to highlight issues of bullying and harassment. Worked with many external stakeholders on issues on education, equality, disability, bullying, racism, and professionalism.
