Dr Harriet Van Den Tooren is a Clinical Teaching Fellow at Hull York Medical School (HYMS) involved in the clinical education of Physicians Associate and Medical students. She is passionate about widening access to medical education and equal opportunities for women in academic medicine.
Harriet is keen to pursue a career in Neurology and has recently completed her Academic Foundation Programme in University Hospital Aintree, Liverpool, focusing on research projects relating to the care and outcomes of patients with Encephalitis. Prior to this, she completed her primary medical degree and intercalated Master of Research degree at the University of Manchester. During her intercalated degree, Harriet was awarded the Wolfson Award and was a Widening Participation Fellow with the University of Manchester.
Outside of medicine, Harriet is always looking for new skills to pursue, and is most recently practicing pottery, cycling and dressmaking.
