Wales - Dr Josie Cheetham

 

Josie v2 002Josie  is a GP trainee located South East Wales, joining GP training from ACCS (Anaesthetics) and as a less-than-full time trainee. Before entering medicine, she had a brief career in research science. Josie is passionate about inclusivity in medicine and healthcare. She has interests in many areas including inclusive healthcare leadership, equitable and flexible working environments, addressing the impact of bullying, harassment and domestic abuse on staff in healthcare environments and social determinants of health.

Civility and compassion in medicine is a key focus and she has co-authored a paper on the importance of civility in clinical teaching environments. She enthuses about empowering those interested, from medical student to post CCT doctor, to become involved in shaping our healthcare systems of the future. Amongst other projects, she has been lobbying for period equality and free access to period and perimenopausal products for emergency use across the UK for over 2.5 years whilst establishing a network of SOS (Sanitary products On Site) boxes across Wales and wider.

She is currently completing her PG Diploma in Medical Education with a particular interest in differential attainment whilst navigating a tight schedule designed by her rescue cat, Sky. You can follow her projects and intermittent Tweets on Twitter via @drjosiech.
