Dr Amanda Owen is a Guys graduate, specialising in Psychiatry, retiring from the NHS in 2011. She joined MWF in 1992 and went to her first MWIA meeting in Guatemala the same year. Since then she has visited Australia, Japan, Ghana Germany, Korea and Vienna for international meetings, and Denmark, Iceland and Georgia and Sicily for European ones.
During her membership she has been Secretary and President of the London Association, and enjoyed her 6-year tenure as Editor of Medical Woman. She has always found MWF to be inspiring and supportive throughout her career. Currently, she is a Chair of Tower Hamlets BMA and is an active member of Tower Hamlets Keep Our NHS Public.
As the UK Coordinator for the MWIA, she also sits on the Ethics and Resolutions Committee and looks forward to the 100th anniversary Congress of the International Association.
