Dr Rashmi Mathew is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she is a glaucoma specialist. She is the Deputy Director for the Undergraduate Education Directorate at Moorfields, a department which oversees the training of 900 medical students a year. She is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. She also oversees Leadership Training for Residents and lectures on the Leadership programme for UCL Medical School. In 2016, the undergraduate education team was awarded the Excellence in Medical Education Award, and Saad al-Damluji Excellence in Clinical Teaching award from UCL Medical School, in July 2016.
She sits on the British Ophthalmological Surveillance Committee and has been on the Royal Society of Medicine Ophthalmology Council since 2012.
Rashmi is passionate about Glaucoma Patient Education and has been running Patient Information Events since 2011.
In her spare time, Rashmi enjoys running, cycling and spending time with her 2 young children.
