The Medical Women’s Federation does not condone violence, but we understand it, as - in Martin Luther King’s phrase - “the voice of the unheard”. We remember that Elizabeth Garrett Anderson and her daughter, Louisa, were militant suffragettes whose actions contributed to the right for women to take their place in medicine, from which we all benefit today.
We are appalled by the death of George Floyd and hope the United States and the world can find a way through racism and discrimination wherever it flourishes, to a stronger society.
