About Medical Women’s Federation Student Section

TheMWF Student Section, established to foster a community of passionate and motivated medical students, provides a unique platform for women embarking on their medical careers. This student-led group brings together like-minded individuals dedicated to advancing the representation and well-being of women in medicine. The Medical Women's Federation, founded in 1917, stands as the largest and most influential organisation for women doctors in the UK, advocating as the voice of UK medical women on key medical issues. The MWF is committed to inclusivity, welcoming and supporting all women doctors, including those who identify as trans or gender diverse. The Student Section offers members opportunities to network, collaborate, and make a difference, empowering future women doctors to pursue their careers with confidence and community support.

Why become a MWF member?

Becoming a student member of the Medical Women's Federation (MWF) is a fantastic opportunity for any aspiring female doctor. Membership opens access to Medical Woman magazine, keeping you updated with relevant articles, current issues, and inspiring stories from women in medicine. You'll have the chance to participate in MWF's exclusive prizes and competitions, along with support to navigate applications for awards that can bolster your CV and professional development. How to get involved?

Become a member today for only £5 and have exclusive access to many national and regional events. Membership also includes automatic membership of Young Medical Women’s International Association (yMWIA). Join us via this Link.

Become a University Representative, see Student University Representatives section. The Student Section of MWF is dedicated to empowering the next generation of women doctor. Getting involved is a great opportunity to meet like minded women, make a difference at your University and develop your portfolio.

Association with Young Medical Women’s International Association

When you join the MWF you benefit from automatic membership of MWIA. A quarterly newsletter will keep you informed of the activities of other national organisations and their priories. MWF members will be notified as each new edition comes out.

Young MWIA (yMWIA) is an active forum of women doctors and medical students under the age of 40. It offers an excellent opportunity for young MWF members to liaise and work with doctors from around the world. More specifically they host a range of projects and events, including a global book club, soon-to-launch mentorship program, and webinars. If you want to get in contact with your local team please email the MWF student email address at the bottom of the page and follow us on Instagram to keep up to date on events near you. If you are a medical student and your Medical School is either in bold (with one lead, so a co-lead is possible) or on the list or medical schools without a MWF representative and you are interested in getting involved and becoming a University Representative, please fill in the form on this link. The deadline for applications is the 20th December 2024.
