New Research into Pre and Postnatal Exercise

Group Exercise for Mothers SOCIALCISE

The National Pre and Postnatal Exercise Survey is building the evidence base for what works in pre and postnatal exercise, primarily to inform healthcare professionals.

The research will analyse attitudes and habits, as well as enablers of safe, effective exercise in pregnancy and beyond.

The Medical Women's Federation is supporting this important work. Founder of Ready Steady Mums and project leader for this research, Katy Tuncer, delivered an over-subscribed and well-received workshop at the MWF Spring Conference: Keeping Doctors and Patients Healthy Through Exercise. We will be arranging a presentation of the research results for MWF members.

The findings will also be presented formally at the Royal College of Midwives Annual Conference in November and at a series of three development events planned for Fellows of the Institute of Health Visitors later this year. Katy Tuncer says "we are delighted to be able to reach and inform front line medical professionals who have such a big opportunity to influence the exercise habits of mothers". You can contact Katy directly through www.readysteadymums.com with any invitations to present at other events to increase the impact and reach of this important work, especially among GPs.

Please encourage pregnant women and mothers of all ages to complete the survey which can be found here.
