Harini Iyengar, Barrister, Lead London Assembly Candidate for the Women’s Equality Party

Harini 640 480As a barrister, Harini Iyengar has specialised in Employment, Public and Commercial law since 1999.  She is a Governing Bencher at Inner Temple.  Harini is the author of “A Practical Guide to the Law of Gender Pay Gap Reporting” and writes and lectures on Feminist Economics.  She serves on the Steering Group of the Temple Women’s Forum and the Bar Council Retention Panel.

Harini is also the Lead Candidate for the London Assembly elections in May 2021 for the Women’s Equality Party. Starting in 2015 as an idealistic, inexperienced founding member, she has now stood for the London Assembly, Parliament, Hackney Mayor, and two council seats, and has served four years on Policy Committee.

Harini is a founder member of WEP BAME Caucus, and in 2019 undertook training as a Black political activist by Operation Black Vote and Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.  Harini has sat on the UK Executive Committee of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, and received training on engaging with young feminists from the European Women’s Lobby.  Harini is a University Governor and holds the qualification “Finance for Non-financial Directors” from the Institute of Directors.  

Harini is the sole parent of three children, at university, secondary school and primary school.
