Statement by Professor Scarlett McNally, President, Medical Women's Federation:
The Medical Women's Federation supports Dr Farah Jameel, long-standing member, former Council member and current Trustee. We are perturbed by the treatment of Dr Jameel during her pregnancy and on maternity leave. Medical Women's Federation is the largest body of women doctors in the UK and campaigns to support the careers of women in medicine. Pregnancy and maternity leave affect women's careers and unless they can participate and progress during this time if they wish to do so, there will continue to be a lack of women in senior leadership positions, worsening health for society.
