Role Summary
The Editor of Medical Woman is a Trustee of the Charity for the term of Office. The roles and responsibilities of Trustees are outlined by the Charity Commissioners. The Editor is responsible to the MWF Council (as Trustee) and Officers.
The Editor shall hold office for a term of three (3) years from her election at the end of which she shall retire but shall be eligible for re-election for one further consecutive term of three (3) years to such office.
General responsibilities
As an executive of the MWF
To promote the MWF to colleagues, peers and various other stakeholders
To represent MWF at conferences, meetings and other relevant events
To use Social Media appropriately representing MWF
The successful individual will be a member of the MWF and be committed to its aims.
To attend the following meetings
· To attend the Officers, Council and Annual General Meeting
· Attendance at Spring and Autumn Council Meetings
Working with & support other Officers
· To work with the other Officers in the running of the organisation
· To support the President with specific projects and campaigns
· To seek strategies to increase membership and funds available to the MWF by supporting the President-Elect
· To seek collaboration with Royal Colleges and other relevant organisations with a view to increasing awareness of MWF and increase membership by supporting the Vice President
· To participate in the allocation and judging of awards, prizes, grants and bursaries to medical students and junior doctor with the other Officers
Specific responsibilities
· Overseeing, commissioning and editing copy of the twice annual magazine and yearly annual review
· Consultant on all press releases and other media material
· Representing MWF on external committees and at other events
MWF Officer’s meetings
· The Editor should attend Officers Meetings and (when required) prepare a regular update to brief other Officers
Council Meetings
· The Editor should attend AGM and Council Meetings and prepare a report for MWF Council meetings in November and May
Travel Expenses
· Travel expenses (economy advance rail/coach fares) or air fares from Northern Ireland/Scotland/Wales will be reimbursed for cheapest available route
