Vice-President’s Role and Responsibilities
Role Summary:
The Vice-President is a Trustee of the MWF Charity for the term of Office. The roles and responsibilities of Trustees are outlined by the Charity Commissioners. The Vice- President is responsible to the MWF Council (as Trustee) and Officers.
The Vice-President has an overall role in supporting the President in promoting the MWF and its views to external organisations. She needs to support the President to ensure that the MWF constitution is followed at all times. Close liaison with fellow officers is vital and close working links with office staff is also important. The Vice-President’s key role is to represent and promote the MWF to all its key stakeholders both internally and externally. This involves promotion of the MWF in meetings, conferences and other events.
The Vice-President shall hold office for a term of two years from her election at the end of which she shall retire but shall be eligible for re-election for one further consecutive term of office of two years to such office. Upon completion of her second term of office she shall not be eligible for re-election to that office until she has been out of such office for one year.
General responsibilities
As an executive officer of the MWF
· To promote the MWF to colleagues, peers and various other stakeholders
· To represent MWF at conferences, meetings and other relevant events
· To use Social Media appropriately representing MWF
· The successful individual will be a member of the MWF and be committed to its aims.
Working with other Officers
· In conjunction with the other officers to monitor the MWF’s policies and procedures to ensure that they are up to date and comply with current legislation and best practice
· To partake in assessment of grants and awards
To support the President
· To help guide the Federation in all its undertakings ensuring that the MWF works to fulfil the aims and objectives of the constitution
· To help guide the strategic direction of the MWF ensuring that the wishes of Council are followed
· To support the President in representing MWF and speak on behalf of the Federation to other organisations, outside bodies, the media etc and at invited functions
· To support the President in promoting the policies of the MWF by interaction with outside bodies and ensure the MWF is involved in all issues concerning medical women and women’s health.
· To support the President with specific projects and campaigns
· To attend functions hosted by MWF and attend events on behalf of the President
To attend the following meetings
· Officers meetings based in the Central Office
· Bi-annual MWF Council meetings
· The Annual General Meeting of the MWF
· Bi-annual MWF Conference
· Any other meetings that may be required
Specific responsibilities
· To promote MWF and its views to key stakeholders through all media platforms
· To promote MWF to external organisations through joint ventures and partnerships
· To respond to consultations (share this task with President –elect)
· To seek collaboration with Royal Colleges and other relevant organisations with a view to increase awareness and membership
· To prepare a report for MWF Council meeting in November and May
Travel expenses
· Travel expenses (economy advance rail/coach fares) or airfares from Northern Ireland/Scotland /Wales will be reimbursed for the cheapest available route.
